Body Language

I’m at a conference with colleagues. I’m noticing how others come together and avoid coming together. Walking towards, then suddenly looking down … or seeing a brightening smile and arms opening wide … or moving close to another and speaking softly … holding hands or with back towards another.

Someone sitting alone looking around with relaxed face… or not looking around and hunched over.

These are signs we all know and understand, even if we’ve never talked about them.

The theme of the conference I’m at is Edges of Exile and Belonging.

So many ways to be alone, even in a crowd. So many ways we’ve learned to be together, even if alone in our room.

Quote of the Week

When speechless, let body do the talk.
― Toba Beta, Master of Stupidity
